Bible — The Bible is the inspired word of God. It is without error.
God — There is only one true God. He is holy, eternal, all-knowing, all powerful, and everywhere present. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. God exists as three co-eternal persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus — Jesus is the virgin-born Son of God who came to this world as a genuine man that He might save us from our sin. He lived a sinless life, died by means of crucifixion to pay for human forgiveness, arose bodily from the grave, ascended to heaven, and will come again in power and glory.
The Holy Spirit — God the Holy Spirit is at work convincing unbelievers of their need to be saved through Jesus. He also brings renewal of life to sinners and empowers and enriches the lives of Christians.
Salvation — Salvation is God’s gift of eternal life through His Son. It is received through repentance of sin and personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no way other than through Jesus for sinners to be reconciled with God. Those who are saved are eternally secure in their relationship with God.
Baptism — Water baptism is an act of obedience for those who are saved. The biblical mode of baptism, and the only mode accepted by Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, is immersion.
Church — The Bible refers to the church in two ways. The entire body of true believers in Christ, both presently alive and deceased, comprise the church. Also, the local bodies of believers are called churches. Jesus Christ is Head of His church and churches. It is the plan of God for every Christian to be actively involved in the corporate worship and ministries of a local church.
Mission — It is the privilege and responsibility of every Christian to share the gospel.
Last Things — At the end of the age, all humans will be bodily resurrected. Those who did not receive forgiveness of sins will be justly sentenced to hell, the place of eternal punishment; those whose sins were forgiven will spend eternity with God in heaven.
